The Hastings wrestling team went 4-1 in five matches this week. The Raiders will need all that positive momentum going into tonight’s big match at Forest Lake. If Hastings can defeat the Rangers, they’ll remain undefeated in the Suburban East Conference with just one more meet to go. Hastings closes out the SEC regular season on Feb. 7 with a 7 p.m. match here against Stillwater.
This weekend, Hastings competes at a tournament in Anoka.
The postseason begins Thursday, Feb. 14, with the team section tournament.
The section individual tournament begins Feb. 22.
Vs Mounds View
Hastings beat Mounds View, 58-9. The Raiders won 11 of the 14 matches on the night.
Kyle Erickson won at 113 pounds.
Luis Sanchez earned a fall at 120 pounds. It took him just 1 minute and 55 seconds.
Jake Spitzack won at 126 pounds.
Luke Rowh continues his strong season, earning a 23-8 tech fall win at 132 pounds. He is ranked No. 1 in the state.
Austin Eichmann won at 138 pounds, 6-1.
Jesse Green earned a pin at 4:58 at 145 pounds.
At 152 pounds, Jake Anderson earned a pin at 1:58. He is ranked No. 9 in the state.
Dan Marquette won by tech fall at 160 pounds, 15-0. He is ranked No. 8.
Andy Rachuy earned a pin at 50 seconds at 182 pounds.
Daryale Harris won at 195 pounds, 14-11.
At 285 pounds, Josh Kickbush earned a pin at 3:56.
Vs East Ridge
It was more of the same against East Ridge, as Hastings cruised to a 68-8 win.
Kopp, Rowh, Stuart Mattison, Tony Lodermeier and Josh Kickbush all earned wins by forfeit.
Sanchez won 14-0 at 120 pounds.
Eichmann won at 138 by fall at 1:48.
Green won again by fall, this one at 5:59.
Marquette cruised to a tech fall win, 15-0.
Johnson won by fall at 2:55.
Andy Rachuy earned a tech fall, 20-5.
Harris won by fall at 3:00.
Hastings placed fourth at the Bloomington Kennedy invitational over the weekend.
Hastings beat Champlin Park, 54-9.
Hastings had four wins by forfeit, earned by Kopp, Eichmann, Green, and Mikel.
Erickson won a big match at 113 pounds, winning 8-6 in overtime.
Sanchez won 8-1 and Spitzack won 9-0.
Rowh earned a fall at 1:07, and Mattison won 6-1.
Lodermeier and Kickbush closed out the match with a pair of pins. Lodermeier’s came at 1:20 and Kickbush dispatched his Champlin Park opponent in just 15 seconds.
The Raiders then beat Bloomington Kennedy, 40-21.
Kopp won 6-0.
Erickson won 9-4.
Spitzack won in overtime, 8-6.
Rowh won 7-1.
Eichmann won 10-3.
Anderson won by fall.
Mattison won 13-4.
Marquette earned a pin at 5:30, and Rachuy earned a pin at 29 seconds.
Kickbush closed out the match with a pin at 3:25.
In the day’s final match, Hastings lost to Prior Lake, 58-14.
Rowh won at 132 pounds, 8-3.
Mattison won at 152 pounds, 15-0.
Cullin Brendeland won at 195 pounds, earning a pin. It was his first varsity pin.
Rowh and Mattison were both 3-0 on the day. Spitzack was 2-0.
