Believe it or not, the Hastings girls gymnastics team has just two weeks remaining in its regular season. The Raiders play host tonight (Thursday) to Stillwater in the season’s final home meet.
On Feb. 7, Hastings competes at White Bear Lake, and that is the regular season finale.
Hastings will then prepare to compete at the section meet, set for Feb. 15-16 at Eagan High School.
Hastings competed against Roseville on Jan. 17.
Taylor Engstrom led Hastings on the night with a third-place finish in the all-around competition. She had a total of 33.25 points.
“Taylor has been doing very well,” coach Jeanne Kasel said. “Each week she has improved her scores from the previous week.”
Engstrom had a store of 8.55 on vault, 7.8 on bars, 8.25 on floor and an 8.65 on floor.
Jordyn Hollar had a strong night, too, finishing with a score of 8.45 on vault.
Alison Kromer fared well on bars with a 7.55.
Hastings scored 127.05 points in a meet against Cretin-Derham Hall on Jan. 24.
Engstrom again placed third in the all-around, this time with a score of 32.525.
On vault, Engstrom had the team’s top score of 8.5, which placed her third. Hollar had an 8.4.
On bars, Kromer placed third with a 7.725. Hollar had a 7.45.
On beam, Engstrom had a 7.675, Kaylee Hennen had a 7.6 and Hollar scored a 7.55.
On floor, Engstrom scored an 8.925, earning her a third-place finish and her best score of the season. Kromer had an 8.3.
