Marion R. Kummer, 92

Marion R. Kummer, age 92, of Hastings, died Saturday, Jan. 26, at Regina Assisted Living in Hastings.

Marion was born Oct. 27, 1920, in Cannon Falls, Minn., to Fred and Hilda (Hanson) Swanson. She became a teacher in the Cannon Falls area country schools. She married Harold "Bud" Kummer on June 2, 1945, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marion was active in her church and was a long-time member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Choir. She and Bud enjoyed traveling, and she loved to read.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Joanne; and five siblings.

She is survived by her husband, Harold "Bud" Kummer; son, David Kummer; daughter Tami (George) Podgorski; granddaughters Hillary (Jeff) Kummers, Hannah, Abigail, and Madeline Kummer; great-granddaughters, Nora and Sophie Kummers.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 Seventh St. E., Hastings. The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perkl, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W., Hastings, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the funeral at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Clyde "Butch" Kummer, Michael Hunter, Kim Reichling, Jack Cords, Scott Swanson, and Paul Murphy.
