Alex Eggert is the Rotary Club’s student of the month
Her teachers have nominated her for the award, and have written this summary of her accomplishments. “Alex has served as a student aide in my adapted physical education classes for the past three years. She works with special needs students in a physical education setting helping them develop their fitness, motor and social skills, and independence. Alex is caring and compassionate, but also pushes students to work to their ability level. She is able to handle difficult and challenging behaviors in a calm and effective manner. She is more than willing to take direction from staff but readily recognizes where she is needed and can independently jump in and take hold of a situation. Her efforts have earned my confidence and trust as she continues to be a tremendous asset to me in the classroom.

“Alex also volunteers her time in the DASH room working with students with severe physical and cognitive disabilities. The general school population has benefited from Alex’s abilities as well, as she has been a peer tutor at the high school since her freshman year.
“Her support of students and others goes beyond the classroom where she cheers on the students at their athletic competitions. Her civic volunteer work includes being a member of the Minnesota Fallen Firefighter Association where she helps plan funerals for firefighters who have passed away in the line of duty.
“Alex has a genuine caring nature and loves people. She has been a helper for several years and understands that everyone has challenges in life and enjoys the positives of each individual. Alex clearly and consistently demonstrates the positive qualities of a future leader!”
