The Rotary Club Student of the Month is Sam Weber.

Mike Johnson, the Hastings High School principal, highly recommended Weber. In a nomination form, Johnson said this about Weber: To say that Sam Weber displays ‘service above self’ is an understatement. On a daily basis Sam takes care of people in his life and does so with a positive and uplifting attitude. To see this level of responsibility and leadership in a high school student is significant and rare.

On a daily basis Sam takes care of people in his life and does so with a positive and uplifting attitude. To see this level of responsibility and leadership in a high school student is significant and rare. This summer Sam lost a member of his immediate family and this has affected every part of his life. Despite this significant loss, Sam has stepped up to the plate by working even harder on his family farm, taking responsibility for maintenance of two Subway stores that are owned by his family and he still remains involved in the Hastings High School community as an active participant on the football and trap shooting teams.

“Sam even finds time to volunteer with the Douglas Township 4 H Club doing adopt a highway, cleaning buildings and organizing special events. Sam aspires to go to college and give back even more by majoring in law enforcement and eventually working as a peace officer. Sam is no slacker in the classroom either, he works hard to do his best in his coursework and achieves good results. This young man works hard, gives back and is kind to everyone he meets. Sam sets himself apart from others as the embodiment of the words responsibility and leadership.”
