The Hastings wrestling team faced off against 35 other teams at the massive Christmas tournament over the weekend. Teams competing in the meet came from Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Hastings was led by Luke Rowh, who placed third. Among his wins on the day was one of the top-ranked wrestlers in Class 1A. He went 5-1 on the day and won his third-place match in overtime, 8-6. Rowh was wrestling at 132 pounds.
Here is how Rowh’s teammates fared:
106 – Spencer Kopp went 1-2 on the day. His win came by fall.
113 – Kyle Erickson went 2-2 on the day.
120 – Luis Sanchez was 3-2 on the day. He had two pins, including one at 19 seconds. The second was at 53 seconds.
126 – Bill Norris went 0-2.
138 – Jake Spitzack went 2-2, including one pin.
145 – Austin Eichmann went 2-2 on the day. He had a pin in his first match.
152 – Jake Anderson had a busy tournament, finishing with a 6-2 record. He placed seventh.
160 – Dan Marquette was busy, too. He was 6-2 on the day as well. He placed seventh.
170 – Mark Vaith finished with a 1-2 record.
182 – Andy Rachuy finished 4-3 on the day. His last match was a tough 5-3 overtime loss. He placed sixth.
195 – Daryale Harris went 1-2 at the tournament.
220 – Tony Lodermeier was 0-2.
285 – Josh Kickbush was 0-2.
