The Hastings City Council will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at City Hall. Here’s a look at what’s on the agenda.
Several city employees will be recognized for their years of service. Fifteen employees have been with the city five years, three have been here 10 years, five have been here 15 years, two have been here 20 years, four have been here 25 years and two employees have worked for the city 30 years.
The council will also recognize outgoing Dakota County Commissioner Joe Harris for his service to the county, as well as outgoing councilmember Mike Slavik, who was elected to Harris’ seat in the November election.
A Hastings locksmith is seeking renewal of his home occupation permit, which allows him to run his business out of his home. The renewal, if approved, would allow him to continue his business there for five more years.
The council will set the final budget and levy for 2013. If approved, the tax levy will increase by 2 percent in 2013. The total proposed levy is $11,980,920. The proposed budget is $26,416,466. The HEDRA-HRA special tax levy is again proposed at the maximum amount allowed by the state, .0185 percent of taxable market value.
