Macrae accepted at Bethany Lutheran

Sinloria Macrae has been accepted for admission at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Sinloria is the daughter of Singer and Gloria Macrae of Hastings. She is a senior at Hastings High School.

Radke receives scholarship

Brittany Radke, who attends Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., was recently honored with an award for the 2013 school year. Brittany received the Class of 1977 Scholarship, which recognizes a student who demonstrates outstanding skills in his or her optometric studies and comes with a $2,000 monetary award.

Alongi places second in the VFW Second District Voice of Democracy Program

Christina Alongi of Hastings will receive a plaque and a cash award for her entry placing second in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Minnesota, Second District Voice of Democracy Program.  

She and her parents will be recognized at the 2nd District Mid-Winter Conference, on Jan. 5, 2013, at the South St Paul VFW. A recognition lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and at the 12:30 p.m. Joint Session, Voice of Democracy winners will be recognized.

Chapman completes Army training boot camp

Pvt. 2nd class Daniel Chapman of the Minnesota Army national Guard has successfully completed Army training boot camp at Fort Jackson, S.C. In basic training he leaned first aid, hand-to-hand combat skills, earned his rifleman qualification and the Army ways. He graduated Nov. 1 and is now stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga., for his Advanced Individual Training, which is in computer networking.

Chapman is a graduate of the Hastings class of 2012. He is the son of Phil and Karen Chapman and grandson of Ron and Sharon Langenfeld and Clarence and IIa Chapman.

Bauer, Duffy graduate from Central Lakes College

Kevin Bauer and Dustin Duffy of Hastings graduated from Central Lakes College in the fall of 2012 from the heavy equipment operations and maintenance program.
