Four first-period goals were more than enough offense for the Hastings boys hockey team to win its season opener on Saturday against Farmington.

Hastings fell behind early in the game, but from that point on it was all Hastings. The Raiders scored five unanswered goals to build a 5-1 lead early in the second period.

Hastings got a true hat trick from Bailey Siewert to get that lead established.

Siewert scored at 4:34, 7:28 and 14:54.

He was assisted by Brandon Boogren, Blake Berg (three times), Andy Neuman and Zach Mellick.

The fourth Hastings goal was scored by Mark Huneke, assisted by Matt Flynn.

In the second period, Huneke scored again, assisted by Flynn and Matt Koch.

In the third period, Flynn closed out the scoring with a goal at 15:20, assisted by Andrew Bussey.

Matthew Radke played in goal and earned the win. He made 17 saves on 19 shots.

Hastings had 26 shots on goal in the game.
