Florence Elizabeth "Liz" (Benjamin) Blaha, resident of rural Menahga, Minn., died Wednesday, the 7th of November, 2012, at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home, Menahga.

Florence Elizabeth "Liz" (Benjamin) Blaha, resident of rural Menahga, Minn., died Wednesday, the 7th of November, 2012, at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home, Menahga.

Liz was born to Harry and Florence (Severson) Benjamin on July 13, 1937, in Hastings, Minn. Liz received a bachelor's degree in home economics education from the University of Minnesota in 1959. She was married to Barry Blaha on June 8, 1960. She taught home economics in Verndale, Minn., prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom and raising her five children. She lived in rural Verndale on the Blaha family farm until 1999 and then lived her remaining years on First Crow Wing Lake near Menahga.

Liz enjoyed many activities throughout her lifetime, including quilting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Liz attended the Assembly of God church of Menahga and was a woman of strong faith.

She is survived by her husband, Barry; her children, Susan (Joel) Walsvik, Debra (Tom) Hartley, Bill (Sara), James (Jennifer), and Tom; five granddaughters and 11 grandsons; her brothers, Harrison (Patti), William (Marcia), Burton (Carol); and her sister, Martha (Steve) Majeski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 10, with burial in rural Montrose Cemetery near the old Blaha family farm.
