A walk to raise suicide awareness walk/run is planned for Saturday, Nov. 10, in Hastings. The walk will begin at the American Legion, located at 50 Sibley St.

Registration is open from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. A speaker from Suicide Awareness Voices of Education will have a presentation at 11 a.m., and the walk/run will follow that speech.

Survivors Jessica White and Kristie Freeman will speak from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The cost to take part in the walk is $10, which includes a T-shirt. All proceeds will benefit SAVE.

The walk is being organized by Alyssa Stadtler, a 2012 HHS graduate. She is a freshman at Winona State University.

“I just wanted to get the community members together,” Stadtler said. “It’s amazing how these kids can come together and stay strong. I know so many of these victims. It’s sad to see and it’s sad to watch others think there’s no way out.”

Donations are sought from members of the community and area businesses.

Anyone with a donation should contact Stadtler at 651-468-6070.

Registration is available on the day of the race or online at http://save.donordrive.com/ index.cfm?fuseaction=donor Drive.event&eventID=546.
