To the editor,

We are deep into another election season with national, statewide and local races taking center stage. What are often overlooked and underappreciated are the judicial elections. As a practicing lawyer who appears in court often, I know the importance of having experienced, highly qualified, fair and impartial judges presiding over cases.

The Honorable Kathryn Messerich is such a judge. She possesses all the qualities that make an outstanding judge. Having been a nurse before becoming a lawyer, she brings a unique background of empathy and understanding to the often difficult matters that come before her. As an experienced trial attorney for more than 15 years before becoming a judge, she understands the role of judges and lawyers and the importance of her decisions to the individuals involved in every case. In addition, she has and continues to volunteer her time and talents to numerous legal organizations to make our court system work better.

Judge Messerich was appointed to the bench in 2004 following a rigorous selection process. In her eight years as a judge, she has presided over civil, criminal, family and juvenile cases. She has earned the reputation of being prepared, thorough, analytical and of following the law. For all of these reasons, I urge you to vote for Judge Messerich on Nov. 6.
