Letter: In support of Janis Quinlan

To the editor,
I am supporting Janis Quinlan for state senator from our district. I have worked with her on her campaign and find that she shares many of the same concerns as I do; lowering taxes, protecting personal liberty and reduction in the size of government, just to name a few, with a good measure of common sense and humor thrown in. She comes to the table with a well rounded scope of life and work experience, as a former public high school teacher and varsity swim coach, small business owner, and mother of two children, I respect her opponent, Katie Sieben, and have written to her in the past about my questions and concerns, and appreciate that her office has responded in a timely manner. But she and I have fundamental differences regarding taxes, spending and government involvement in our lives. I favor much less of all three. Ms. Sieben did not get a mandate from our district in the last election when Karin Housley ran against her, in fact she only won by 606 votes out of 31,043 cast. During the next legislative session lines were redrawn, and Ms. Housley was drawn out of our district by three houses. If you are ready for a different philosophy and direction from the person representing you at the state capitol, there is another choice, Janis Quinlan.
