PUBLIC NOTICE
ABSENTEE VOTING
September 13, 2012
Voters may begin to vote by Absentee Ballot on Friday, September 21, 2012. The General Election will be Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
State law allows eligible Minnesota voters to vote absentee either by mail or in person for one of the following reasons:
1)Absence from precinct.
2)Illness or disability.
3)Religious or discipline or observance of religious holiday.
4)Service as an election judge in another precinct.
To vote absentee by mail, visit the secretary of state's Website to download and print an absentee ballot application, or contact Dakota County or City of Hastings to obtain one. Voters can vote absentee in person during normal business hours at the county offices and City Hall (101 Fourth Street East).
There are special voting procedures for active-duty military personnel, their dependents, and Minnesotans overseas. Those voters should visit https://minnesota.overseasvotefoundation.org, a one-stop-shop developed by the Office of the Secretary of State in partnership with the Overseas Vote Foundation, to assist these voters in requesting their absentee ballots.
For more information, please contact City of Hastings at elections@ci.hastings.mn.us or 651-480-2357.
