The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office has charged Brittany Ann Woodbeck, 21, Hastings, with one count of theft (aggregating $1,000 to $5,000) in connection with the theft of more than $3,000 worth of jewelry from a residence in Empire Township. According to the criminal complaint, deputies were called Feb. 22 to the residence. There they met with a woman who said several items of her jewelry had been stolen. She said she had hired two women through a company to help around her residence and babysit her child. She believed one of them may have stolen the jewelry.
Deputies ran the names of the women through the Automated Pawn System and learned that Woodbeck has recently pawned several items of jewelry at a pawn shop in Burnsville.
On March 9, deputies executed search warrant at Woodbeck’s residence and located a piece of jewelry that the Empire resident had reported stolen. In a statement to deputies, Woodbeck said she had stolen the jewelry on three separate occasions and had pawned most of the items.
