Traffic stop brings charges
A 27-year-old Hastings woman, Erin Marie Carroll, faces charges of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree (possession, failure to provide vehicle insurance, failure to provide proof of insurance, and possession of stolen checks.
A 27-year-old Hastings woman, Erin Marie Carroll, faces charges of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree (possession, failure to provide vehicle insurance, failure to provide proof of insurance, and possession of stolen checks.
According to the criminal complaint, a Dakota County deputy was on routine patrol Aug. 25 on 160th Street near Hastings and observed a vehicle with no working turn signal and brake lights. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Carroll. She was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant
In completing an inventory of the vehicle, the deputy found syringes, a small plastic bag which contained trace amounts of a controlled substance, two checkbooks, five loose checks and check registry in another individual’s name. Carroll said the individual had given her the checks. When the deputy contacted the individual, he learned that no one else had permission to have her checks.
