Gondwana returns for final jazz concert

Making a return performance at the annual Alexis Bailly Jazz in the Vineyard this summer, the Gondwana quintet will complete this year’s performances. The group performs from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Alexis Bailly Winery.

Max Ray and Rochelle Becker play the clarinet, soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones and vocals. They have worked with the Wallets, Suburbs and Wally Murphy.

Composer/keyboardist Drew Gordon has worked with the Children’s Theater Company, Nemesis Musical Theater and the Heights Theater.

Jerry Gorman started his Twin Cities music career with local 80’s pop recording artist the Spam Grievance. He later joined the electric jazz improvisational fusion group Earth Size Hail. He also performed with the Men Larry and Friends.

Larry Hennessey bought his first drum set in the Summer of Love and has been playing ever since. During these past 40 years, he has played many styles for many people.

The annual Jazz in the Vineyard has been sponsored by Jazz 88, KBEM 88.5 FM, on Sundays in July and August.

The winery will offer a variety of picnic needs for purchase. All its wines will be available for tasting and purchase.

The Alexis Bailly Winery is located at 18200 Kirby Ave. Take Highway 61 south from Hastings to 170th Street, turn to the right. Drive two miles; as the road curves, it becomes Kirby Avenue. The winery is on the left side.
