Letter: In support of Tony Alongi

To the editor,

I am writing to urge the residents of the First Ward to vote next Tuesday, Aug. 14, in the important primary election. Council member Tony Alongi is standing for re-election and I enthusiastically endorse his re-election to the city council.

Council member Tony Alongi has demonstrated throughout his public service his commitment to the residents of the First Ward and our great city. As mayor, I appreciate his thoughtful and analytical approach to local government. That approach has helped guide our city in important achievements like the new bridge, balanced budgets and redevelopment efforts, such as the Hudson property. Another important quality that Tony brings to the city council is his outstanding leadership abilities. His chairmanship of the planning committee, work on the new bridge, community volunteer activities and his critical role in mobilizing city resources in bringing the Hastings car show are just a few examples of his valued leadership.

First Ward residents have an important choice next Tuesday. Please participate in the primary election and send a strong message that you want to continue good and effective local government in Hastings. Re-electing Council member Tony Alongi will send that message.
