Letter: Rep. McNamara is ‘misleading his constituents’

Once again Rep. Dennis McNamara is misleading his constituents by misrepresenting the facts and taking liberties with the truth in his latest “Update.”

To the editor,

Once again Rep. Dennis McNamara is misleading his constituents by misrepresenting the facts and taking liberties with the truth in his latest “Update.”

By accepting self-congratulatory "pats on the back" for his part in the government shutdown, borrowing billions from our schools, and by helping solve the crisis by kicking the can down the road for the 2013 /2014 legislature to solve, and voting on extreme social issues ahead of job creation, is just plain wrong. America is about personal freedoms, not taking them away. McNamara is celebrating his lack of real leadership and accomplishments in his “Update.” This is nothing to crow about.

The facts are: Minnesota endured the longest state government shutdown in history, throwing 20,000 state workers out of work and delaying state highway and bridge projects, including the new Hastings bridge.

Yes, congratulations are in order to Rep. McNamara for voting “Yes” on the Vikings stadium, and for opposing the Right to Work (for less) amendment. But, you can bet that other extreme measures will resurface if the GOP leadership controls the House of Representatives next year.
