Doo Da Day offers vocals and instrumentals

Twin Cities musicians Doreen Ariola and Don Cordes have been performing their music for more than 20 years throughout the area, and now they are coming to Hastings.

The Doo Da Day duo will perform in a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the LeDuc Historic Estate, 1629 Vermillion St. Their performance is part of this year’s summer concert series.

Ariola has been singing for 20 years and teacher of voice and percussion. Cordes plays guitar, fiddle and banjo, while also doing vocals. Their songs include jazz, blues, country, contemporary, instrumentals, Beatles favorites and a Chet Atkins medley.

Other performing groups at the concerts are: Aug. 19, The Eric Thomas Trio, featuring primarily jazz selections; and Aug. 26, The Jolly Huntsmen, a polka band.

All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and guests are invited to arrive early to walk the grounds, enjoy the gardens on the historic site, or take a special guided house tour at 5:30 p.m. Regular rates apply to house tours.

Those who attend are asked to bring a chair or a blanket. Pie and ice cream will be sold by various local organizations. In case of rain, the concert will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
