The Burnsville Police Department has charged Kristian Daeonte Tanner, 19, Hampton, with one felony count of offering a forged check in connection with a Sept. 26, 2011, incident.

The Burnsville Police Department has charged Kristian Daeonte Tanner, 19, Hampton, with one felony count of offering a forged check in connection with a Sept. 26, 2011, incident.

According to the criminal complaint, a Burnsville woman reported a theft to police. She indicated that she had employed Tanner as her live-in nanny. During the time, a Wii gaming system, controllers and five video games disappeared from the residence. Tanner denied any knowledge of what happened to the items. The woman fired her and told her to remove her belongings.

After Tanner had left, she discovered a pawn ticket, and an iPod and checkbook were missing.

Several days later, the woman learned that one of her checks had been presented at the Dakota County License Center for a vehicle transfer. The woman said she did not write the check and did not give permission to Tanner to write the check.

In a subsequent statement to police, Tanner acknowledged writing the check, but said the woman had given her permission to do so.
