St. Mary’s of Basswood Grove plans corn and pig roast Aug. 18
St. Mary's Episcopal Church in near Afton will host its annual corn and pig roast and silent auction from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, on the grounds of the historic church in Denmark Township.
St. Mary's Episcopal Church in near Afton will host its annual corn and pig roast and silent auction from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, on the grounds of the historic church in Denmark Township.
Bidding for the silent auction will take place between 4 p.m. and 6:30 pm. The Sacred Harp (Shape Note) Singers and The Episcocats will perform.
Food for purchase includes roasted corn-on-the-cob, pulled pork sandwiches, Italian sausage with fresh grilled vegetables, hot dogs, root beer floats and watermelon. Other activities will include games for children and a bake sale.
Bidding on the silent auction will continue until 6:30 p.m. with such items as a cottage stay on Cape Cod, weaving lessons, fine art and hand-crafted items, homemade pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving time, theater tickets, restaurant and grocery store gift cards and many items from local businesses and individuals.
Admission is free. This event will take place rain or shine.
