Letter: Why does the HPD patrol General Sieben Drive so much?

I am just curious as to why the Hastings Police Department seems to patrol General Seiben Drive and the road near Smead Manufacturing so well. It seems to me that the speed limit in those two areas could easily be at least 45 mph as there is very little, if any, accesses, and relatively low traffic.

To the editor,

I am just curious as to why the Hastings Police Department seems to patrol General Seiben Drive and the road near Smead Manufacturing so well. It seems to me that the speed limit in those two areas could easily be at least 45 mph as there is very little, if any, accesses, and relatively low traffic. Couldn’t they make more money patrolling Vermillion Street where the traffic usually flows at 45 mph or better?

Also, I think one could make a living handing out tickets for failure to obey the stop signs in town. Do the boys in blue get to elect which laws they want to enforce? I haven’t gotten a ticket and am not complaining. I am curious though!
