Police report preview - July 8 to July 12

Here is a preview of this week's police report. The entire report can be found on Page 4A of this week's print edition.

• A fight was reported between several people who had been drinking along 26th Street.

The residents were all intoxicated.

It is believed the fight began as an innocent wrestling match.

One man who was injured said he was struck by a tree.

The case remains under investigation.

• Three Hastings juveniles were cited for curfew violations after shooting a bottle rocket at a motorcyclist here.

Cited were two 16-year-old males and one 15-year-old male.

A man reported he was stopped at a stoplight on a motorcycle.

Someone shot a bottle rocket at him from a motor vehicle. The man was not injured, but reported his ears were ringing.

The three juveniles were located at McDonald’s where they were identified, cited and released to their parents.

• Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church was burglarized. Doors were left unlocked for people who were working on air conditioning units at the church.

Staff learned several offices were broken into by unknown suspects. Taken was about $240 in cash and a $1,500 Visa prepaid card. The matter remains under investigation.

• A person tried to steal a television from Walmart in Hastings, then fled in a vehicle.

The vehicle’s plate and description was broadcast, and the vehicle was stopped by a state trooper at the intersection of highways 52 and 42.

A female driver was arrested. It was learned she had gone into the store with only $3 in cash. She put a large LCD TV valued at $228 in a cart and headed toward the door.

She walked past the registers and was about two feet from the door when she stopped and was confronted by store security about the theft. She was asked to come into the loss prevention office.

She ran to her vehicle and drove away.
