Swanson named to University of Minnesota’s dean’s list Andrew Swanson of Hastings has been named to the University of Minnesota’s spring 2012 dean’s list with a 4.0 GPA. Swanson also was named on the winter 2012 dean’s list. Swanson is majoring in material science and engineering at the U of M, where he will begin his junior year in the fall.

Andrews graduates from Carlson School of Management U of M
Kate Kullman Andrews graduated on May 14 from the Carlson School of Mangement University of Minnesota with a master’s degree in business administration. Kate is a graduate of HHS and a 2004 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is employed at Nestle Purina as a team leader in category development. Kate is the daughter of Keith and Pat Kullman of Hastings.
Green named on Saint John’s dean’s list
Daniel Green of Hastings has been named to the dean’s list for the 2012 spring semester at Saint John’s University. Green is a first-year psychology and theater double major at SJU. He is the son of James and Karla Green.
Bergschneider named on Winona State dean’s list
Ellen Bergschneider of Hastings has been named to the Winona State spring 2012 dean’s list.
Zappa named on NSU dean’s list
Elizabeth Zappa of Hastings has been named to the Northern State University (Aberdeen S.D.) spring 2012 dean’s list.
Ries named to the dean’s list at UW-LaCrosse
Mary Ries of Hastings has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse for the spring semester of the 2011-12 academic year.
Two Hastings students receive Chancellor’s Award
Students from Hastings who received the Chancellor’s Award from U of WI-Stout for the spring 2012 semester are: Lauren Fox, who is majoring in pre-computer engineering; and Ken Lusian, who is majoring in construction.
Raskob graduates from St. Olaf
Charlie Raskob of Hastings graduated from St. Olaf College. He is a biology major and also had a concentration in management studies. Raskob is the son of Daniel and Jennifer Raskob.
Mike wins U.S. Bank scholarship
U.S. Bank has named Whitley Mike of Hastings as one of 40 college students chosen to receive a $1,000 U.S. Bank scholarship. Mike was selected from more than 150,000 students throughout the country who applied for the U.S. Bank Scholarship Program. Mike, a senior at College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, has held a variety of leadership positions including theatre manager, editor of The Freshwater Review Journal and graphic designer for a Lifehouse campaign. She was awarded the Certified Student Leader Award through the Student Organization for Leadership Development. She is pursuing a degree in communications/media arts.

Bethany Ann Ridenour of Hampton graduated from Bradley University on May 12, 2012 with a bachelor’s degree, Magna Cum Laude.

Students from Hastings named on the dean’s list at the College of Saint Benedict include: Elizabeth Gleich, daughter of Kathleen and Peter Gleich. Gleich is a senior peace studies and theology double major at CSB; Tara Kranz, daughter of Tom and Jeanne Kranz. Kranz is a senior communication major at CSB; Brittany Werner, daughter of Deanna and Tom Werner. Werner is a senior political science major at CSB.

Jan’s School of Dance has strong performance
Dancers from Jan’s School of Dance finished the competition season with a strong performance at the Starz National Competition held in Wisconsin Dells June 13-17. The dancers collected 20 national championships by finishing first in their category as well as 10 coveted platinum awards. Overall, 168 dancers took home first-place finishes and 130 were awarded platinum hardware.
Giant clogging’s “Down in Mississippi” scored first place overall senior Line and Silver clogging’s “Everybody” scored second place overall preteen line.
The Giant Clog and Ruby Jazz and Lyrical, and Omni Lyrical routines led the way receiving platinum awards. The youngest competition lines at Jan’s are PreComp Jazz and Clog which both received gold. Members of the PreComp lines include: Sage Alverson, Allexis Bohmbach, Morgan Buck, Haley Callahan, Madelyn Chandler, Hope Davis, Emma Dinndorf, Ashley Fritz, Leah Holmes, Anela Johnson, Erin Kampa, Kylee Knoll, Allison Majeski, Lilly Meier, Ella Morrow, Lindsey Nadeau, Londyn Overlander, Isabel Precious, Amber Puckett, Lauren Reuter, Ella Samuelson and Charlee Simacek.
Many dancers also compete in routines with members from various lines. The Super Clog, Novelty, and Contemporary I routines received high gold. Mini Lyrical, Contemporary II and Hip Hop routines received gold.
