Niemann graduates from basic military training Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jacob R. Niemann graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jacob R. Niemann graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Niemann earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of Carrie Niemann of Hastings. The airman is a 2011 graduate of Hastings High School.
Pechacek graduates from North Dakota State
Kristina Joy Pechacek of Hastings graduated in the spring of 2012 from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree and a major in natural resources management.
Ross graduates from St. Mary’s University
Valerie Ross received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota on May 12 in Winona. Ross is the daughter of Rose Ross of Hastings.
Siepmann is named on Concordia dean’s list
Tim Siepmann of Hastings has been named to the Concordia University, St. Paul, dean’s list. Siepmann is a freshman.
UW-Madison announces spring dean’s list
Students from Hastings named to the University of Wisconsin-Madison dean’s list are Jordan Astar, Nicole Chorney, Emily Estenson, Katharine Frank, Erik Meyers, Thomas Moynihan, Nicholas Peterson, Thomas Shingledecker, Tiffany Thurmes, Megan Waibel, Ashley Wiesenburger Jared Zupfer.
Brockman graduates from Rochester College
Ross Brockman of Hastings graduated form Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) at the end of spring semester 2012. Brockman received an associate in science for mass communications.
Saint Mary’s University announces dean’s list
Hastings students named to the second semester, 2011-12 dean’s list at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota are: Mackenzie Klimek, daughter of John and Elaine Klimek; Lindsey Reinisch, daughter of Jayme and Lisa Reinisch; Valerie Ross, daughter of Rose Ross; and Katherine Zuzek, daughter of Mark and Janet Zuzek.
Mankato announces group honors and high honors list
Hastings students named on Minnesota State Mankato spring dean’s list are Brooke Anderson, Derek Bane, Daniel Boston, Charles Carpenter, Douglas Ferrie, Amanda Frandrup, Angela Gelhar, Megan Gelhar, David Green, Jonathan Herke, Joseph Herke and Alexa Lautenbach. Christine Kummer of Hastings was named to Augsburg College dean’s list for the winter 2012 trimester. Kummer is studying nursing and she is the daughter of Paul and Patricia Kummer.

Hastings students named to Viterbo University spring 2012 semester dean’s list are Carlee Brockman and Alexandra Marshall.

Dustin Duffy of Hastings has been named on Central Lakes College spring 2012 president’s list.
Bauer named on Central Lakes College dean’s list
Kevin Bauer of Hastings has been named on the Central Lakes College spring 2012 dean’s list.
Wilmar named to the House and Senate for the Federalist and Nationalist parties
Southwest Minnesota State University and American Legion Boys State announced that Kyle Wilmar was named to the House and Senate for the Federalist and Nationalist parties. Wilmar is the son of Bonnie Wilmar of Hastings. He attends Hastings High School and was sponsored by the Hastings American Legion Post No. 47.
Freeman graduates from The Ocean Corporation
Corey J. Freeman of Hastings graduated May 19, 2012 with an Ultimate Diver certification from the Ocean Corporation. The Ocean Corporation, located in Houston, Texas, is a commercial diving training organization in the United States and has been training commercial divers since 1969. Graduates are trained for what most people would consider a very unique career. With job placement assistance provided, graduates will go to work for professional dive companies performing underwater welding and cutting, underwater construction, search and salvage, inspections and repairs and various other tasks below the water’s surface.
The Ocean Corporation features one of the largest commercial diver training facilities in the world that includes an elaborate training complex, a permanently- installed medical decompression chamber facility, a portable decompression chamber and a 400-foot rated wet lockout diving bell system.
Corey is the son of Ann Marie and George F. Freeman.
