The Hastings Hawks had a rough weekend, losing a pair of games Saturday during the annual Dewey Tauer tournament.
Hastings lost to Shakopee, 4-2. The Indians broke a 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs to pull away.
Earlier in the day, Hastings lost to the River Falls Fighting Fish, 7-5.
The good news was that Hastings won a game earlier in the week, beating the Elko Express, 4-1, on Wednesday.
In the game against Elko, Hastings got a great pitching performance by Deryk Marks, who threw a complete-game seven-hitter. He struck out 16 and walked just one.
At the plate, the Hawks were led by Marks, too. He hit two solo home runs for the Hawks.
Two fellow Hawks, Christian Abilla and Colin Coan, also had home runs for Hastings.
Drew Benson and Aaron Stoneberg also had hits for Hastings.
The Hawks have an overall record of 10-8 and a 4-3 mark in the Classic Cannon Valley League.
Miesville leads the CCVL so far. They have a 4-1 record in league play. Cannon Falls, Dundas, Hastings, Northfield and Red Wing each have four wins.
Hastings plays at a tournament in Eau Claire this weekend, then returns home for a 7:30 p.m. game Wednesday, June 27, against Elko.
