Last Friday night, 410 Hastings High School students donned blue caps and gowns to receive their high school diplomas while their family and friends watched from the stands at Todd Field.

The seniors weren’t the only ones to get recognition. Five teachers officially finished their teaching careers at HHS. They are Brian Drummond (French), Sue Drummond (French), Jarl Olson (math), Bill Kaiser (math) and Hope Olson (special education).

Also recognized were this year’s foreign exchange students: seniors Enni Jantti (Finland), Leontyna Jurigova (Czech Republic), Nikoline Kjaersgaard (Denmark), Johan Lob (Sweden), Martina Majerikova (Slovakia), Mahnoor Mobin (Pakistan) and Felipe Rech (Brazil) and sophomore Vsevolod Ganinets (Russia).

The ceremony was dedicated to John Sorenson, who died in March. Sorenson was part of the class of 2012.
