A 19-year-old Rochester man is in the Dakota County Jail after he led Dakota County deputies on a chase which began on Highway 52 and ended near Erickson Drive in Hastings at about 4:40 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows, the pursuit ended with the car striking a residence near the intersection of 15th Street and Erickson Drive.
The deputy clocked the vehicle traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour going northbound on Highway 52, south of County Road 46. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle when it turned to eastbound County Road 46, but the vehicle continued.
The vehicle drove over “stop sticks” deputies had placed on County Road 46 west of General Sieben Drive, resulting in the deflation of two tires. The suspect continued northbound on General Sieben Drive, turning on eastbound 15th Street. Again, the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle lost control near Erickson Drive, left the road and struck a tree and a residence.
Two occupants in the vehicle fled the vehicle on foot and a search was conducted. The two were located hiding in a tree a short distance from the crash scene and taken into the custody.
The vehicle was reported stolen in Rochester.
The driver was booked into the jail on several felony-related charges. The passenger was released to his parents.
No one in the residence was hurt. The house did sustain damage.
