Gale named to dean’s list at Creighton University

Foster Gale, a junior College of Arts and Sciences student at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., was named to the spring dean’s List for the 2011-2012 academic year. He is the son of Mary and Jim Gale of Hastings.

Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical president’s list announced

Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical in Winona, has announced its president’s list for the 2012 spring semester. Hastings students making the president’s list are Deborah Kaiser, Alicia Lien, Nathan Lund, Betty Miller, Garrett Pearson and Tyler Serres. To be eligible, students must complete a minimum of 12 credits at Southeast Technical during an academic term and achieve a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Hastings students awarded math and science scholarships from Flint Hills Resources

Hastings High School seniors Kelly Flanders and John Osberg were awarded Discovery Scholarships from Flint Hills Resources.  This is the 21st year Flint Hills has provided scholarships to college-bound local students pursuing careers in math and science. A total of 26 students from 13 schools in Dakota and Washington counties each received a $2,500 scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year.  The scholarship recipients were chosen based on demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurial skills, and each had a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher.

Zupfer Graduates From UW-Madison

Jared Anders Zupfer has recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Engineering where he obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in materials science and engineering. He has accepted an employment opportunity with Cummins Inc. and will be working at their Fridley location as a Reliability Engineer.

Jared is a 2008 graduate of Hastings Senior High School.  His parents, Cory and Carol, reside in Denmark Township.

Peterson among graduates at Colgate University

Heidi Lynn Peterson of Hastings graduated recently with a B.A. in political science and sociology and anthropology from Colgate University in Hamilton N.Y. Colgate University is a highly selective liberal arts institution offering 52 majors to a diverse student body of 2,900 undergraduates.

Bethany Lutheran College announces dean’s list

Thalia Pollard, daughter of Andrew and Evonne Pollard of Hastings, was named to the Spring 2011-2012 Academic Year Dean’s List at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Pollard is a 2009 graduate of Hastings Senior High School

Walls among graduates at UW-Eau Claire

Kaitlyn Walls of Hastings received a BBA in economics at the commencement exercises at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, May 19, 2012.

Mann among graduates at UW-Eau Claire

Donald Lynn-Daniel Mann of Hastings received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls at the commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 20.

North Dakota State University announces dean’s list

Hastings students named on the North Dakota State University dean’s list are; Abbie J. Groth, criminal justice; Elizabeth S. Keena, journalism; Kyle B. Kuhn, civil engineering; Alyssa J. McKinney, veterinary technology; and Kelly R.Pechous, pharmaceutical sciences. Students from Vermillion are: Amanda R. Peine, accounting; and Jena L.Peine, microbiology.
