Letter: Baseball fields in Hastings need work
I think baseball is a great sport for all folks. Young and old, fans or players all enjoy the sport if the games are played on halfway decent fields. Three years ago a group of parents and coaches got together and started Raider Nation and had 75 young ball players.
To the editor,
I think baseball is a great sport for all folks. Young and old, fans or players all enjoy the sport if the games are played on halfway decent fields. Three years ago a group of parents and coaches got together and started Raider Nation and had 75 young ball players.
Last year there were more than 200 and this year they have more than 600 young players involved in the game, but the City of Hastings baseball fields that they play on are in terrible shape.
The batter boxes are like fox holes, the pitcher's mounds are like Pike's Peak, there are no foul lines and poor bases — these are just a few things that need to be improved.
Some parents want to make things better, but they are not allowed to do so. I can't believe who makes these rules. Maybe those folks should come out to Miesville and see how a community can worked together.
