Letter: God has already clarified what marriage is, and what it isn’t

Our Heavenly Father has defined marriage this way: "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."

To the editor,

Our Heavenly Father has defined marriage this way: "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." This is a quote from Christ Jesus when He was being tested by a group of legalese known at the time as Pharisees. The context was in relation to divorce, but in the conversation, Christ gives clarification on marriage.

Little bitty man can come up with all kinds of reasons based on feelings as to why he should have his way. He can then get a group of people together and train the group to come up with "rational" arguments as to why he should have things his way. The group can then gather in others of the same interests and begin to increase their numbers and then petition lawmakers to change law to reflect there feelings. But that does not change truth.

The truth is, God has already given the definition of marriage. It has been on the "Book" since the beginning of time. I don't spend a lot of time trying to figure out politics. Makes me crazy to even try. Example: why taxpayers would want to subsidize billion dollar owners and million dollar players, in helping them come up with a playground to play in. Stuff like that just amazes me.

It also amazes me that a special interest group would want Minnesotans to buy into their lifestyle by voting “No” to a law that God has already clarified. One of the writers last week stated that a recent letter writer, Patricia Chenier, who wrote against the amendment was ignorant and fearful. That is not what I got out of that article. It would seem that Chenier was writing out of an appreciation for the truth. I applaud her for starting this dialogue and would encourage others to weigh in.

And as for me and my household we will vote "Yes" on Nov. 6.
