Police report preview - April 27 to May 6

• A Hastings man was arrested after confessing to stealing beef jerky at a convenience store in the 1400 block of Vermillion Street.
• An adult male was yelling at people as he walked down the street in the area of 15th and Bailey streets. The call came in at 1:51 p.m. The man was swearing and making threats at people for no apparent reason.
The man appeared to be intoxicated.
He was located and arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process after he did not cooperate with officers.
• Hastings officers responded to the report of an intoxicated parent caring for children. Officers went to the scene and found the child’s mother, who tested initially with a .273 blood-alcohol-content. The children were turned over to the care of their grandparents and the case was referred to child protective services.
• An unknown person wrote on a garage in the 1200 block of 18th Street with window chalk.
Written on the garage were sexually-explicit images and a swastika.
Window chalk was used to write on a plastic fence in the 1800 block of Oak Street.
A swastika and a penis were drawn on the front door of a residence in the 600 block of 11th Street.
