A sweep at the three doubles positions paved the way for the Hastings boys tennis team to a win over Stillwater on Thursday, April 26, 5-2.
Close matches were all over the court, and Hastings won all the close ones.
At first singles, Ben Carlson won 6-4, 6-2.
At fourth singles, Zach Mellick won 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
In doubles, Ty Mellick and Cody Arndtson won 6-3, 6-1.
The No. 2 doubles team of Craig Nielsen and Austin Houska won 6-4, 6-1.
The third doubles team of Jalen Sneddeker and Ben Klimek eked out a 6-4, 6-4 win.
Steve Roach fell at second singles for Hastings.
Alex Zuzek lost at third singles.
Vs. Roseville
Hastings lost a close one to Roseville on Wednesday, April 25, 4-3.
Carlson was the lone winner in singles play, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Sneddeker, Zuzek and Mellick each lost.
In doubles, two wins were picked up, including one by the top team of Arndtson and Ty Mellick in a marathon of a match. They won 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.
The No. 2 team of Nielsen and Houska won 6-0, 6-3.
Meanwhile, Klimek and Roach fell at third doubles in a close one, 6-4, 6-3.
