A fine line is separating the Hastings girls golf team from a spot toward the top of the Suburban East Conference, and a spot toward the bottom of the SEC.
Just a few weeks ago, Hastings placed second at an SEC meet. This week, the team took eighth place at a pair of meets.
“In this conference we have to be much more consistent than we played in the last two rounds,” coach Becky Hartung said. “If we take away one stroke from each girls score we are right in the thick of this conference. Consistency is going to be the key to having a successful year.”
At Highland National on Wednesday, April 25, Hastings took eighth. The Raiders were led by Izzy Karbo, who shot a 44. Sadie Karbo had a 47, Caitlyn Judge had a 49 and Haley Jo Kimmen shot a 51 to round out the scoring. Hastings finished with a 191. Also playing varsity were Maddie Bauer (52) and Clare Baldwin (55).
At North Oaks on Monday, Hastings placed eighth again.
Kimmen had a 49 to lead the Raiders. Izzy Karbo had a 52, Judge had a 53 and Sadie Karbo had a 54 for a total of 208. Also on varsity, Bauer had a 56 and Clare Baldwin a 57.
