Hastings boys win eight-team track and field meet at Richfield

The Hastings boys track team won an eight-team meet last week at Richfield High School. The Raiders won the Spartan Invite with 170.5 points.

The Hastings boys track team won an eight-team meet last week at Richfield High School. The Raiders won the Spartan Invite with 170.5 points. Richfield was second with 134.33 points and Park Center was third with 134.

Hastings was led by Zack Benning, who won both the 1,600 and the 3,200.

In the 1,600, Hastings took three of the top six spots, with Joe Rabaey (fourth) and Alex Kane (sixth) coming in behind Benning.

In the 3,200, Hastings occupied three of the top four spots, with Lukas Human (second) and Christian Weiland (fourth) scoring big points for the team.

Kane won the high jump and Wes Evansen and Dan Gove tied for the win in the pole vault.

Results from the boys meet went like this:

100 – Dustin Kimmes, fifth, 11.80; Brian Burr, eighth, 12.02; Jake Anderson, 15th, 12.86.

200 – Spencer Saccoman, third, 23.91; Kimmes, fourth, 23.98; Burr, fifth, 24.07.

400 – Jesse Green, third, 54.83; Michael Stricker, fourth, 56.67; Godfree Manly-Spain, seventh, 57.39.

800 – Joe Rabaey, third, 2:08.13; Jake Kelly, sixth, 2:14.32; Austin Reuter, eighth, 2:17.08.

1,600 – Zack Benning, first, 4:29.54; Rabaey, fourth, 4:37.27; Alex Kane, sixth, 4:51.49.

Shot put – Kyle King, seventh, 37-0; Dominic Milne, ninth, 35-10; Matt Reinisch, 19th, 31-1.5.

Girls

The Hastings girls placed sixth at the meet with 73 points.

East Ridge won the girls meet with 149 points, Richfield was second with 140 and Simley was third with 118.
