To the editor,
The Gallery Gala sponsored by the Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council (HPAAC) last Friday evening was a huge success. Honoring Bert and Margaret Goderstad of Hastings and Mike Erie of Prescott was the highlight of the evening. Success was assured by community support (sold out event), sponsors (Xcel Energy, Dakota Electric, Ruth Gale and George Doffing Foundation), and behind the scenes efforts of a small dedicated group that believes the arts can not only educate, bring pleasure and enjoyment to a community but also provide economic development. A special thanks to Mecca Manz and artist Dale Lewis with the fun “marketing” of the Frugal Zoo, and special thanks to Jessica Bierbrauer of LeDuc Historic Estates. Thank you also to all of the artists that presented their work to be showcased, musicians who performed, local businesses who donated auction items, and Black Dirt Theater for making the auction an event to be remembered!
The opportunity to collaborate and support visual, literary, and performing artists was increased exponentially with your pledges, memberships, artists’ sales, raffle tickets and silent auction proceeds. If you are interested in helping in the effort to bring outstanding programs to our community please contact us through the www.HPAAC.org website.
This support will help us bring more collaborative opportunities to Hastings and Prescott. Through the efforts of both communities, we will continue to provide “Fun with Art” classes, HPAAC Writers’ Group, An Affair of the Arts, Communicate, Collaborate, and Create (CCC), as well as hosting various arts forums and shows featuring local artists. Keep your eyes peeled for the “Art in the Garden” Saturday, June 23, a collaboration of Hastings Garden Club and HPAAC artists. Thank you to all of the wonderful people in our communities who know that life is richer and more rewarding when the arts are involved.
