Hastings High School alumni association plans annual banquet for Sept. 29

It is time to mark the calendar for the annual meeting and banquet of the Hastings High School Alumni Association.

This year’s banquet – the 129th meeting – will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Hastings Country Club.

“We are the oldest, active alumni association in the country,” said Alumni Association Secretary Geno Halberg. “It is about tradition – holding on to it.

“It is the history we share, those of us who graduated from Hastings High School,” said Halberg. “You just think of the numbers which have gone through the school; there is the camaraderie which is amazing.”

This year’s banquet begins at 5 p.m. with the social hour (cash bar) at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6: 30 p.m. A brief meeting and social time will follow dinner. Letters will be sent to the anniversary classes, which include the years of 2007, 2002, 1997, 1992, 1982, 1977, 1972, 1967, 1962, 1957, 1952, 1947, 1942 and 1937. Hastings High School graduates are encouraged to let their classmates know about the annual banquet.

All who are graduates of Hastings High School are members of the Alumni Association.
