Hastings boys lacrosse loses two

The Hastings boys lacrosse team lost a pair of games this week. The Raiders lost to Woodbury on April 18, 12-3, and on April 19 the Raiders lost to Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes, 18-11.

“We’re still trying to figure out what works for us,” coach Brian Jenson said. “It’s going to be a slow process, and we haven’t had much time to practice recently. Some of our injured players could be back soon which should help.”

Jenson said slow starts have plagued the team thus far.

“We also have to start playing better to start the game,” he said. “So far, we’ve only been a second half team. The intensity needs to be there right away on that first face-off. We’re showing signs of improvement. I keep saying we need to get a little better each day. The players know what they’re doing wrong. They’re starting to point it out themselves. Now it’s just a matter of execution.”

In the game against Woodbury, Hastings got two goals from Sam McGree and one from Jordan Burr.

Brian Willson made seven saves.

Vs. Rochester

In the wild 18-11 loss to Rochester, Hastings had five different players score goals. Burr and Colin Shoen led the way with three goals each. Andrew Cordell and Logan Chilson each had two goals and Roger Martineau had one.

Earning assists were: Ryan Gillard, Isaiah McCullough (two), Burr, Mikey Smith, Casey Gillard and Scott Schlosser.

Zach Chilson played in goal for Hastings.
