Hastings show choir places third at national competition

The top Hastings show choir, Riverside Company, placed third at the national championships over the weekend in Chicago. There were 15 teams at the meet.

The top Hastings show choir, Riverside Company, placed third at the national championships over the weekend in Chicago. There were 15 teams at the meet.

The group received caption awards for outstanding male section and most creative arrangement for “Funky Rio Jungle Monkey." There were seven judges for the competition. One judge put the group in first place, four judges placed them in second, one judge placed them third and one judge placed them eighth. After all scores were tabulated the cumulative raw scores placed Riverside Company third overall in the nation behind Wheaton-Warrenville from Illinois and Los Alamitos from California.

The team qualified for the national meet by placing second at a qualifying meet in Branson, Mo.
