Hastings Police Department to offer presentation on bullying

The Hastings Police Department has planned an informational presentation on bullying. The presentation is titled "Bullying: Cause, impact and effective response." The event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at City Hall.

The Hastings Police Department has planned an informational presentation on bullying. The presentation is titled "Bullying: Cause, impact and effective response." The event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at City Hall.

According to a press release issued by the department:

Bullying has gained national attention for its impact on victims. While bullying has traditionally been a school-based phenomenon, technology has made cyber-bullying a new reality. Bullies can now target and harass victims anywhere and anytime using their computer or cell phone.

This 90 minute interactive training session will provide participants with information on:

· The causes and types of bullying

· The techniques and strategies used by bullies

· The critical influence of bystanders

· Impact of bullying on victims and those who engage in bullying

· Effective adult, parent, and peer responses to bullying

Who should attend?

· Parents

· Grandparents

· Youth/students

· Any concerned community members

The session is free and open to the public.
