Letter: HPAAC is building an exciting future for our community

I am writing to commend the work being done by the leaders of the Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council. The Hastings area has always been home to many creative artists in a variety of mediums, but it wasn’t until recently that creative people had a place to connect with each other and reach out to the broader community.

To the editor,

I am writing to commend the work being done by the leaders of the Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council. The Hastings area has always been home to many creative artists in a variety of mediums, but it wasn’t until recently that creative people had a place to connect with each other and reach out to the broader community.

I am excited for the expanding resources the HPAAC will offer this next year: teaching and encouraging artistic expression, providing opportunities for artists to collaborate and providing practical resources for artists in our area. As the artistic director of Black Dirt Theater, the HPAAC’s work is particularly inspiring because of our many common goals. We are both passionate about seeing art happen more frequently and naturally in our community. Also, we are both working to create opportunities for artists to grow in their art, and then use their skill to serve others.

Because of the skilled, dynamic, and passionate group leading the HPAAC, I look to the future of the arts in our communities with hope and excitement. Art and expression, whether by groups or individuals, whether on stage or on canvas, strengthens communities. I want to thank the leaders of the HPAAC for their work and I encourage others to join. Let us build on this strong foundation and work together to strengthen the Hastings and Prescott area through the arts.
