Accident report for the week ending April 8

Here is this week's fire and accident report.

Monday, April 2

Two vehicles were involved in a minor collision at 7:27 a.m. April 2 at the intersection of Red Wing Boulevard and Vermillion Street. One vehicle rear-ended another.

Thursday, April 5

Police and emergency medical personnel responded to a single vehicle crash at 5:04 a.m. April 5 in the 300 block of West 33rd Street. Shannon Kadlec, 37 of Hastings, struck a fire hydrant with her vehicle. Kadlec told police she thought an oncoming vehicle was in her lane, so she moved over but went off the road. She was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and cited for driving after revocation.

Two vehicles collided when attempting to turn at the same time onto Vermillion Street from Fifth Street. One vehicle turned too wide and entered the other vehicle’s lane.

Firefighters responded to a report of electrical arcing at a home in the 900 block of West 36th Street at 11:01 p.m. April 5. A refrigerator compressor had shorted out. The fire was out upon arrival.

Friday, April 6

A 17-year-old male got distracted while driving in the 200 block of Tiffany Drive and struck a parked vehicle. The incident was reported at 7:59 a.m. April 6.

Saturday, April 7

An 18-year-old Hastings man backed into another vehicle parked on the street while backing out of a driveway. The incident was reported at 9:33 p.m. April 7.

Sunday, April 8

Firefighters extinguished a rubbish fire that was reported in the 1800 block of Westview Drive at 3:19 p.m. April 8.

Monday, April 9

Firefighters responded to a crash at the intersection of County Road 46/47 and Pleasant Drive at 9:12 p.m. April 9. Two people were reported injured.
