Jake’s Discount Liquors is now open for business in Hastings. The 2,900-square-foot facility opened Wednesday at 1608 Vermillion St., adjacent to the laundromat.
The business is owned by Rich Jacobson, who also owns the location in Coates, which opened late last year.
“It’s going well so far,” Jacobson said. “We’re getting a lot of people in the door.”
Jacobson said the store stocks some 2,500 cases of beer and has $150,000 in inventory lining the shelves. Much of that beer is located in a large 600-square-foot walk-in beer cooler.
“We do have a pretty decent selection of craft beers and imports, too,” Jacobson said.
There will be sampling stations set up on Thursdays and Fridays, which will feature different wines and liquors.
Jacobson operated a gentleman’s club in Coates for a number of years at the location of the current liquor store. One of the poles from that club is inside the new Hastings business, Jacobson said. It is used as a pole that conceals power cables running from the ceiling.
Store hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The business can be reached at 651-346-1267.
