St. John the Baptist competes in annual science fair

Did you ever wonder if finger prints are hereditary? How much grease is actually in those potato chips you eat? Or if the heat of your armpits could generate enough energy to charge your iPhone? These questions, and many more, were answered at the St. John the Baptist Catholic School annual science fair on March 7.

Did you ever wonder if finger prints are hereditary? How much grease is actually in those potato chips you eat? Or if the heat of your armpits could generate enough energy to charge your iPhone? These questions, and many more, were answered at the St. John the Baptist Catholic School annual science fair on March 7.

More than 40 student projects from the school of 135 students were evaluated by a team of 18 technical professionals. Although students in grades three through five are required to complete a project, many students in preschool through second grade participate, too. An all-school award ceremony at the end of the day highlighted special awards, blue ribbons, and medals to students who will represent the school at the Regional Science Fair in Mankato in April.
