Fourth- and fifth-graders at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Vermillion participated in a free, two-day workshop over spring break to write basic computer code using LEGO Mindstorm NXT software. They wrote the code, downloaded the commands from laptop computers to processors built into the LEGO robots they designed, then tested the robots by maneuvering them through a series of obstacle courses set up in the school gym. Many of the robot designs included the use of sensors to guide the robot.
