Jodi Husting’s second-grade class at McAuliffe Elementary School picked their favorite books and then read them aloud to family and friends last week. That, though, did not end their reading enjoyment as part of the national “Read Across America” program.

For about an hour last Thursday at Panera Bread, the students shared their “book reviews” with families and friends.

The morning also included a reading by Emily Lee of Target, a promoter of the program.

Husting said the focus is on promoting reading for all students.

About 175 second graders and their families attended the “Lorax,” at the Marcus Theater Saturday, March 3. The Dr. Seuss book is a children’s favorite.
