Fire claims four-stall garage

A four-stall apartment garage burned down Monday evening. The garage was located behind a four-plex in the 2900 block of Riverwood Drive.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Hastings Fire Department responded to the call shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, March. 5. The fire began in the southernmost stall.

"When we got there, we had heavy fire in the first two stalls," said Fire and EMS Director Mike Schutt.

Due to an abundance of contents in the garages, the fire spread to the remaining two stalls as well. No vehicles were in the garages and there were no injuries.
