Raiders still seek good news

Good news has continued to elude the Hastings girls basketball team.

The Raiders lost three games in their last week of play, and the team is now 2-21 overall on the season.

The first of those three losses came Wednesday, Feb. 8, to Como Park. Hastings lost, 55-35.

A rough first half spelled doom for the Raiders, who were outscored 25-11 in the first half. The second half was much closer, with Hastings being outscored just 30-24.

The best news of the night was a breakthrough performance by underclassman Sabrina Astar, who finished with a team-high 14 points.

Also scoring for Hastings were: Morgan Tjomsland, two; Hanna Norman, five; Lexie Harp, three; Nicole Hollar, two; Lauren Thomas, one; Becky Church, two; Jill Weinzettel, six.

Vs. East Ridge

Hastings lost to East Ridge on Friday, Feb. 10, 55-44.

Harp scored in double figures, leading the way for the Raiders with 12 points. Astar had eight, Weinzettel had nine, Thomas had eight, Jordan Marshall had four and Hollar had three.

The game was close through the first half, with the Raiders holding a lead at the break, 25-23. In the second half, though, East Ridge outscored Hastings 32-19.

Vs Stillwater

Hastings lost to Stillwater on Tuesday, 60-36.

Harp and Marshall each had eight points. Weinzettel had seven.
