HHS loses close one to WBL

In a close Suburban East Conference gymnastics meet, the White Bear Lake Bears were able to edge the Hastings Raiders, 130.575-128.35.

In a close Suburban East Conference gymnastics meet, the White Bear Lake Bears were able to edge the Hastings Raiders, 130.575-128.35.

“We almost did it,” coach Jeanne Kasel said. “The girls, they really pushed it. They pulled a couple new tricks – we’ve really been adding to their routines.”

Hastings was led in scoring by junior Jamie Becker, who placed second in the all-around with a score of 33.275.

Jordyn Hollar wasn’t far behind her, placing third in the all-around with a score of 32.125. Hollar is a sophomore.

“They both did very well the whole meet,” coach Jeanne Kasel said.

On vault, Hollar led the way with an 8.8.

Ali Kromer had a strong night on vault, too, scoring an 8.275. Kromer is a junior.

On bars, Becker scored an 8.0 to pace the Raiders.

Taylor Engstrom, a sophomore, finished with a 7.8.

Becker had the team’s top beam score, turning in an 8.45.

Becker also led the team in scoring on the floor exercise, earning an 8.925.

Kromer had an 8.85.

Hastings competes at Park tonight (Thursday) in the season’s final SEC meet.

“We’re changing all kinds of things up for that one,” Kasel said. “We’re going for it.”

Vs Stillwater

Hastings lost to Stillwater last week in an SEC meet.

Becker led the team in the all-around with a 33.825.

Hollar had a 32.75 and Kromer had a 32.

Hollar led the Raiders on the vault with an 8.9.

Becker had the top score on bars with an 8.3. She also had the top score on beam (8.325) and floor (9.0).

Kromer had an 8.6 on the floor.
